The execution of Ajmal Kasab was probably the highest guarded secrets and officials in the jail at which he was hanged informed that hangman was informed about the person he executed only after it was over.

We were directed to maintain the highest levels of secrecy and only a couple of days before he was shifted from the Arthur Road jail to Yerawada were we informed. The same day all arrangements were made and even the anda cell (egg shaped) was kept ready. Even the hangman who was chosen to carry out the execution was not told about who he had to execute. We only told him that there was a terrorist in the Yerawada jail who was to be hanged.
